(SportsNetwork.com) - Fresh off earning his second Olympic gold medal, Sidney Crosby will get back to work for the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday when they host the Montreal Canadiens at CONSOL Energy Center.Crosby famously delivered the overtime game-winner for Team Canada in the 2010 gold medal game against the United States, but unlike four years ago in Vancouver the Canadians didnt need a dramatic finish to repeat as Olympic champions.Canada won all six of its games at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and earned shutout victories in the last two outings, beating the U.S. 1-0 in the semifinals before downing Sweden 3-0 in the battle for gold. Crosby, who captained Canada in Sochi, posted a goal and two assists en route to another Olympic title.Crosbys fellow Penguins star Evgeni Malkin and Team Russia did not fare nearly as well at the 2014 Olympics, as the host country was eliminated by Finland in the quarterfinals.Sochi didnt end in glory for Pens head coach Dan Bylsma either. He had Team USA off to a 3-0 start in the tournament before the loss to Canada in the semifinals and a subsequent defeat at the hands of Finland kept the Americans off the podium. You have to put (the Olympics) behind you, Bylsma recently told the Pens official website. The task at hand is coming back here and playing for the Penguins. Thats the best way to put it behind you.Pittsburgh returns from the break with a healthy 16-point lead atop the Metropolitan Division, but the club still has injury concerns to deal with. Defenseman Kris Letang is still out due to a stroke suffered prior to the Olympics. Fellow blueliner Paul Martin is out for at least a month after injuring his hand while representing the U.S. in Sochi. The Pens were 4-1-1 in their final six outings before the Olympics. The clubs next game will be played outdoors when Pittsburgh visits the Chicago Blackhawks for Saturdays game at Soldier Field, home of the NFLs Chicago Bears.Montreal will try to bounce back from a loss in its first game after the Olympics. The Canadiens were handed a 2-1 overtime loss by visiting Detroit on Wednesday to have a three-game winning streak halted. The Habs did not have No. 1 goaltender Carey Price for their first game back after he suffered a lower-body injury at practice on Wednesday morning. Price, who also will miss tonights game, anchored Team Canada in its gold medal run in Sochi, posting a 5-0 record, a 0.59 goals against average and .972 save percentage.Peter Budaj started on Wednesday and he stopped 28 shots before allowing Detroits Gustav Nyquist to score with just 27.3 seconds remaining in OT.The Canadiens still managed to notch a point thanks to Brian Giontas game- tying tally with just 28.7 seconds left in regulation. In the third we started to pressure their D a little more and it paid off in the end, Gionta said. In the first two periods, they were able to come through out of their zone quite easily.Budaj could get another start tonight for the Habs. Montreal also recalled Dustin Tokarski from its AHL affiliate in Hamilton on Wednesday to take Prices place on the roster. The Canadiens and Penguins have split a pair of games so far this season, but Pittsburgh has won four of five and seven of its last nine meetings with Montreal. The Habs, who are playing five of their next six games on the road, have dropped five straight in the Steel City. Mike McGlinchey Jersey .Y. -- Dwane Casey admitted hed been concerned about his young Raptors team who had zero experience playing in close-out games -- what awaited them with the vastly-experienced Brooklyn Nets, and how theyd react. Garrett Celek Jersey . Strasburg (1-1) got 14 consecutive outs in one stretch and allowed only three hits, including Marcell Ozunas homer in the seventh. The right-handers lone walk was to the last batter he faced. Washingtons starter Wednesday, Jordan Zimmermann, left after a career-low 1 2-3 innings, leaving the bullpen "taxed," as manager Matt Williams put it. http://www.officialsanfrancisco49ersfootball.com/authentic-fred-warner-jersey-womens. Of course that doesnt mean hes ignoring it. Thats actually rather impossible given the behind-the-scenes access to the Toronto Maple Leafs the network is getting. Ronnie Lott Jersey .Simon will work with head coach Gord Dineen and associate coach Derek King behind the bench of the Toronto Maple Leafs American Hockey League affiliate for the 2014-15 season. Weston Richburg Jersey . The Swede became the first golfer to win the PGA Tours FedEx Cup and European Tours Race to Dubai in the same season. "It is still taking a little time to sink in what Ive achieved this week as was the case when I won the FedEx Cup but then it just kept getting better and better as the days went on and I am sure this will be the same," he said.NEW YORK -- Hours after learning that All-Star starter Matt Harvey has a torn elbow ligament, New York Mets manager Terry Collins didnt care who Zack Wheeler was about to face. The potential ace of the rotation was done for the night. "We said before the game that 105 was the limit," Collins said of Wheelers pitch count. "Obviously, after what happened earlier today were sticking to it." Wheeler was lifted with a runner on second and two outs in the seventh with Phillies lefty Cliff Lee ready to bat. Lee ended up pitching eight innings and leading Philadelphia to a 2-1 victory over New York on Monday night. Wheeler (6-3) was outstanding in his 13th big league start, giving up a two-run triple to Cody Asche among five hits. New York lost for just the second time in his last 10 outings. "I understand but I really want to be out there," Wheeler said of being lifted in the seventh. "Its definitely going to be a while before any of us get back up there in pitch count. Its not their fault, but its just human when your best pitcher goes down." The Mets were stunned to learn Harvey has a torn ulnar collateral ligament. The right-hander felt more discomfort in his forearm than usual Saturday during his start against Detroit. He was sent to the Hospital for Special Surgery on Monday for an exam, which included an MRI. A full prognosis wont be made until swelling in the elbow goes down in about two weeks. "It was the last thing I was expecting when I went this morning," Harvey said Monday. "I am going to do everything I can to avoid surgery." Harvey admitted he was tired against the Tigers, the 26th start of his first full season in the major leagues. Collins said he noticed Harveys pitches werent as crisp, a sign of fatigue. "Nothing is shooting in my elbow at all. Thats not the issue," Harvey said. "When I heard the news, I was pretty shocked. Im still very optimistic." General manager Sandy Alderson said during a downcast news conference the injury wasnt caused by one incident, but is "progressive," so even if the 24-year-old Harvey can avoid surgery now it might be necessary in the future. Recovery time for Tommy John surgery is about a year. The No. 7 pick in the 2010 draft, Harvey is 9-5 with a 2.27 ERA. He has an NL-leading 191 strikeouts in 178 1-3 innings and was a top candidate for the Cy Young Award. "It put everybody down," catcher Travis dArnaud said. "When we heard the news, everybody was just speechless. I just feel terrible, man." The Mets were working on limiting Harveys innings to a little more than 200 this season. Alderson said there is no real formula for managing the careers oof young pitchers.dddddddddddd "These innings limits are not a guarantee of anything. Theyre certainly not based on any science," Alderson said. "This is a kind of progressive injury that isnt a function of ... we dont believe in this case a specific incident or quote overuse. Its an anatomical fact that these things happen." The blow is particularly tough for an organization that has not been to the playoffs since 2006, and hasnt had a winning season in its new ballpark that opened in 2009. But Harvey was the first of several top young pitchers who were supposed to help lead New York back to the post-season, and Mets captain David Wright cited the talent in the minor leagues as one of the reasons he signed a big contract to remain in New York last winter. Wright sat next to Harvey in the dugout to watch the first couple of innings of fellow first-round pick Wheelers outing. Wheeler didnt disappoint, but the 2008 AL Cy Young Award winner Lee was a bit better. Lee (11-3) gave a bullpen taxed by an 18-inning loss Saturday a much-needed rest. He allowed a run and five hits to win for the first time in seven starts since July 5. He also made several nice plays in the field. Asche hit his first major league triple -- with two outs in the fourth -- as the Phillies improved to 7-4 under new manager Ryne Sandberg and won for the second time in 15 road games. The Phillies avoided falling again behind the Mets, who lost their fifth straight and dropped into fourth place in the NL East. Jonathan Papelbon was perfect in the ninth for his 22nd save in 28 opportunities. Until the eighth, Lee didnt face trouble after the Mets got a gift in the second inning when they took a 1-0 lead. Marlon Byrd led off the second with a routine fly to right-centre. In what appeared to be a moment of indecision between centre fielder Roger Bernadina and right fielder John Mayberry Jr., the ball fell in between the two for a double. Byrd scored on Andrew Browns single. With two outs in the eighth, Lee struck out Juan Lagares with runners on first and second after falling behind 2-0 in the count-- the Mets only inning besides the second in which they had more than one baserunner. "I didnt feel as good as it turned out, to be honest with you," Lee said. "I felt like I had to battle and was able to continue to get outs." NOTES: Collins said RHP Carlos Torres will start Thursday in place of Harvey. Torres got two outs Monday. ... The Phillies placed OF Casper Wells on the 15-day DL because of vision problems. Pete Orr was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. ... Mets 1B Josh Satins streak of reaching base in all 29 games as a starter ended. Oh my Ottawa, so close but yet so far away. With only one win by only one point heading into Week 15 of CFL football this really has turned into a very long season for RedBlack football. With two seconds to go, no time outs, seven yards away, first down and the score 15-7 the chance was there to tie the Montreal Alouettes and take it to overtime. It would have been poetic justice considering all the adversity and opportunities missed all season but it was not to be. I guess you could blame everybody: coaches for not anticipating, quarterback for not directing, receivers for mass confusion and centre for lack of execution. Everybody. As painful as it was to watch the moment not capitalized upon it really is all part of the gigantic process of learning how to win and maturing as a team. People grow up and teams grow up too. It is a process of seeing what was difficult and awkward becoming controllable and smooth. When you talk to a coach it is often why they say they coach in the first place, to see a team or an individual improve and mature. In the case of the team its called winning, and in the case of a player its called performing. Yes it is directly related and achievable and its easier when you have your best players on the field, but even the best players were not very good at some point in their football careers. Ottawa in many ways is like a little kid making mistakes and improving as it ages, they just need to grow up fast since patience in waiting for winning is very short in pro football. The same goes for Winnipeg. The inability to score a touchdown and get Drew Willy his fifth come-from-behind win was painful to watch but if its never repeated was well worth the experience. There still are many more good aspects of football to talk about than bad but this was a tough one to accept and move on from. Especially when you realize that Willy had a 303-yard passing day and the quarterback on the other side, Zach Collaros for Hamilton, had a 182-yard passing day and the 303-yard quarterback lost. And looking at Hamilton, that is a team that is growing up. They have won four of the last five and are in first place in the East with an uncomfortable 5-7 record. First place is first place and the Ticats control their football destiny which is always priority number one. The return of an efficient Collaros is reason number one why this is the case, but they are also a defensive football team that has improved and is playing its best right now. Hamilton has good Canadian talent and you see that at this point of the season, Lindon Gaydosh is going to be an effective player and with Justin Hickman back the Ticat four-man pass rush is better than it ever has been. The resurgence of Hamilton also coincides with their moving in to a new stadium and everything new that goes with it. I am convinced that if you have an empowering atmosphere you will see an improvement on field in skill and result. I wonder if Toronto has what Hamilton does - if not they would also benefit. Pure logic says yes. The most impressive win was Edmonton 24, Saskatchewan 0. It is tough to shut out a team in CFL football with all the ways you can score but Edmonton did it. The Eskimos are run and influenced by Mike Reilly, foremost as an individual player but they have three good running backs comparable to anyone Saskatchewan or Calgary have. Tyler Thomas, Kendial Lawrence and now John White and his 192 yards give Edmonton exceptional balance in run and pass. White saw what Lawrence and Thomas were doing and knew he was competing for long term employment against the Riders. He won both competitions. For the Riders the obvious is the most relevant and of extreme significance. Right now I cant see the Saskatchewan Roughriders getting to or winning the Grey Cup unless someone takes over at quarterback and performs fast. Is it on the roster? Right now I have to say no. Could it be on the roster? I have to say maybe, but not a confident maybe, more of a doubting maybe. Pretty much everything else is good but the unknown of who will and can handle the football the best is a massive concern. Anthony Allen, Jerome Messam and Will Ford get ready, the quality of the 2014 season may fall on the three of you. With Calgary 14, B.C. 7, twenty carries for 156 yards says it all. Even though they knew it was coming Jon Cornish ran for 156 on only 20 carries. Dew Tate threw for only six yards more with 162 to put the Cornish performance as the reason the Stamps won. Other reasons: First, BC scored on its opening drive and that was it, great defence. Second, of the 156 yards, many times Cornish hit the second level - the linebacker level - in full stride. Great offensive line blocking. And third, Dave Dickenson. He kept his top player his top player by using him over and over again. There were many times we all knew Cornish was going to get the ball and he still got it. Dickenson stayed disciplined all game and made sure when it came to touches, Cornish turned each one into yards. It is tough to win on field goals and credit BC on defence but Calgary did it and are now 11-2. Thoughts going into Week 15? Winnipeg must beat Ottawa big time. Not just to help make the playoffs but to bolster confidence because if they dont confidence will hit an all-time low. Calgary at Saskatchewan. If the Stampeders win it pretty much kicks the Riders out of any realistic chance at first place. This is the first of two matchups with the next in Week 18 but that one is in Calgary. For Toronto, playing Edmonton in Toronto is an advantage as this says Edmonton does not play its best. Five of next six are at home for the Argos and if, and I know it is an if, five wins happen it is a nine-win season. Considering all the adversity of this year, it would be a minor miracle. With B.C. at Hamilton, the Ticats stole one in Winnipeg and will have to earn one back home. They just might. October football starts Wednesday. Fall football is here. Michael Ford College Jersey . Weve learned well.Evra, the former Manchester United left back, put Juventus ahead with a header following a corner 12 minutes into the lunchtime fixture.Allowed time to line up a shot from the edge of the area, Sampdoria substitute Manolo Gabbiadini equalized in the 51st by shooting inside the far post for his sixth goal of the season. The draw ended Juves home winning streak in the Italian league at 25 matches in the Turin clubs last home match of 2014.The last time Juve dropped points at home in the Italian league was a 1-1 draw with Cagliari in May 2013.Theyre really strong here. Theyre also tough on the road but here they have another gear, Gabbiadini said.Juventus also drew its previous match, 0-0 at Fiorentina. Its too bad, because we created a ton of chances in the first half and we didnt take advantage of them all, said Juves first-year coach Massimilian Allegri.Sampdoria, which stretched its unbeaten streak to six matches, moved level third on points with Genoa and Lazio in the race for the final Champions League berth. Also Sunday, AC Milan beat Napoli 2-0 at the San Siro with goals from Jeremy Menez and Giacomo Bonaventura, ending Napolis 11-match unbeaten streak.Menez scored his career-best eighth of the season by dribbling between two defenders and beating the goalkeeper with a sharply angled shot that went in off the post six minutes in.Shorrtly into the second half, Bonaventura was left unmarked to head in a cross from Pablo Armero.ddddddddddddMilan moved level sixth with Napoli. In other matches, Fiorentina moved up to seventh with a 4-1 win at 10-man Cesena, where Borja Valero, Stefan Savic, Gonzalo Rodriguez and Mounir El Hamdaoui scored for the visitors; Hellas Verona won 2-1 at Udinese with Luca Toni celebrating his 300th goal as a professional with the decider following scores from Antonio Di Natale and Lazaros Christodoulopoulos; and last-place Parma drew 0-0 with Cagliari in a matchup of two clubs in the relegation zone.Despite the early kickoff, Juventus was sharp from the start with Alvaro Morata and Roberto Pereyra threatening in the opening 10 minutes. The 33-year-old Evra leapt to meet a corner from Claudio Marchisio at the edge of the box and score an impressive goal. Evra, who joined Juventus on a two-year contract in July, only scored seven goals in 273 Premier League matches with United.Midway through the first half, France midfielder Paul Pogba nearly made it 2-0 after expertly controlling a 60-yard pass from Leonardo Bonucci but couldnt find the target.Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic replaced Nenad Krsticic with Gabbiadini to start the second half and the move paid off when Gabbiadini shot past outstretched Gianluigi Buffon to draw the visitors level. In Genoa, goalkeeper Mattia Perin was sent off for a hard tackle on Nainggolan in the 29th but reserve goalkeeper Eugenio Lamanna saved the ensuing penalty kick from Adem Ljajic in his first career top-division action. However, Nainggolan connected with a superb volley following a cross from Maicon to score in the 40th and Roma, boosted by the man advantage, controlled play the rest of the way.The victory was some consolation for Roma after a 2-0 loss to Manchester City eliminated the Giallorossi from the Champions League.___Andrew Dampf can be followed at www.twitter.com/asdampf Cheap Throwback Baseball Detroit Tigers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Colorado Rockies Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Houston Astros Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Kansas City Royals Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Los Angeles Angels Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Los Angeles Dodgers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Miami Marlins Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Milwaukee Brewers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Minnesota Twins Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball New York Mets Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball New York Yankees Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Oakland Athletics Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Philadelphia Phillies Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Pittsburgh Pirates Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball San Diego Padres Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball San Francisco Giants Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Seattle Mariners Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball St. Louis Cardinals Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Tampa Bay Rays Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Texas Rangers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Toronto Blue Jays Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Washington Nationals Jerseys ' ' '
